Akademiks recently commented on Cardi B’s remarks in a Twitter Spaces session where she addressed allegations about drugging and robbing men during her time as a stripper. During the session, someone trolled Cardi, bringing up past accusations that she used to drug and rob men. Cardi had previously admitted to some of these actions years ago, explaining that she did what she needed to survive while working in strip clubs.

Cardi B once said in a video from about six years ago, “I did what I had to do to survive. I had to go strip, and yeah, I would give a man a pill, get him knocked out, and go through his wallet.” In her words, she was justifying her actions by highlighting the struggles she faced to make it in the music industry without any handouts.

Recently, a man claimed he was one of Cardi’s alleged victims. He described an incident from five years ago when he visited a strip club in New York and met Cardi B. He invited her back to his hotel room for a drink, and after he returned from the bathroom, he passed out. When he woke up, he found a used condom on the floor, and his money and belongings, including his iPod Touch and a Louis Vuitton belt, were missing. He didn’t file charges because he didn’t want his fiancée to find out.

While some people dismiss the man’s claims, it brings attention to the broader issue of male victims of such crimes often being ignored. The man’s account, whether true or not, raises questions about how society views male victims of sexual and financial exploitation.

Cardi B recently responded to these old allegations during her Spaces session. She expressed frustration, saying, “Why do you keep bringing up that Cardi B robbed men? So what? I’ll do it again. I don’t feel bad for those men.” Her comments were met with criticism as many felt she was downplaying the seriousness of the accusations.

Although Cardi B insists that she never drugged anyone, the focus of the backlash is primarily on the robbery aspect. Her comments seemed to be a reaction to people continually bringing up her past. Some believe that her frustration may stem from the perception that she is being judged more harshly than male rappers who have rapped about similar crimes.

The discussion surrounding Cardi B’s remarks highlights the double standards in how society treats crimes based on gender. While male rappers often glorify criminal activities in their music, Cardi B’s past actions and comments have been met with significant criticism. This conversation also points to the dangerous nature of certain lifestyles and the potential consequences for those involved.
