Reid and the Chiefs training staff decided to show caution with wide receiver Chris Conley, who’s been dealing with a knee issue.

What We Learned From Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid's Post-Game Press Conference

“We suited him up and we got a good workout with him. We lathered him up but we chose just to hold him out for another week here. He’s made a lot of progress.”Reid wasn’t surprised that WR Fred Williams played well.

Andy Reid released from hospital

“You know, he’s had a good camp,” he said of Williams. “Freddie’s a good player. He comes from little St. Cloud (State) in Minnesota there and he’s been around, but he’s a competitive guy. He’s a lot of fun to be around and plays hard. He gives you what he did today. He’ll make those plays.”

Reid was very impressed with quarterback Chase Daniel, who threw for three touchdowns and 189 yards.

Can Andy Reid join the Coach of the Year discussion?

“We feel Chase is a top-caliber quarterback,” he said. “We’re fortunate to have Chase here. He has an opportunity there to work against younger guys like that and he’s going to look pretty doggone good.

“He took some hits though tonight and he hung in there. That’s what separates you a little bit. That’s quite a deal.”
