Simone Biles could not help herself. The GOAT just had to send a savage message directed at former USA Gymnastics teammate MyKayla Skinner following the latter’s disparaging remarks about the women’s team competing in the Paris Olympics.

In a candid moment, MyKayla Skinner sparked controversy by criticizing the current U.S. Olympic gymnastics team’s work ethic and talent depth, stating, “Besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth just isn’t what it used to be. A lot of girls don’t work as hard. The girls just don’t have the work ethic.”

After Biles led the squad to a gold-medal win in Tuesday’s gymnastics team final, the 27-year-old clapped back at Skinner’s remarks about the supposed lack of talent on this year’s team.

“Lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions ❤️🥇🇺🇸,” Biles wrote on Instagram along with a photo of herself and the girls proudly celebrating their podium finish.

Gymnastics icon MaKayla Maroney, who herself brought home two medals during the 2012 Olympics in London, jumped in on Biles’ comments section. Maroney doubled down on Biles’ message, while also revealing why she felt compelled to issue a public apology amid these recent developments.

“It doesn’t get more iconic than this.. She — around n found out fr. Feels like I need to apologize just to redeem my first name,” Maroney commented.

Maroney and Skinner have similar first names, which caused a bit of confusion among some fans.

Don’t worry McKayla, the supporters definitely aren’t expecting an apology from you.
