Should Angel Reese win Rookie of the Year over Caitlin Clark? At least one prominent personality for ESPN thinks so.
“My rookie of the year is going to go based on the standings. That is how you have the opportunity to measure impact. And the Sky right now are in the playoffs. So, you’d have to give the nod in my mind to Angel Reese,” McNutt said. “Look, the double-double streak she’s rocking and rolling. She already has 11 straight.”
McNutt then made the argument that Clark has a better supporting cast than Reese, which we’re not entirely sure about. There’s a reason the Indiana Fever have owned the No. 1 pick in each of the last two drafts.
As for McNutt’s original statement, the race between Clark and Reese should be considered a tight one at this moment.
Reese, the No. 7 pick from this year’s draft, has been exceptional for the Chicago Sky. She’s averaging 13.2 points and 11.8 rebounds per game.
Clark, on the other hand, is averaging 16.0 points, 7.1 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game.
One thing we know for sure is the WNBA is lucky that it’ll have Clark and Reese elevating the product for years to come.
Clark and Reese will both participate in this year’s WNBA All-Star Game.
