The Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese found herself the butt of the joke after making a poor shot against the Los Angeles Sparks but she shouldn’t pay any notice with a wealth of stats backing her up as one of the best rookies in WNBA history.
The Sky emerged victorious on their home court at the Wintrust Arena with a 92-78 victory over the Californians but despite Reese adding 24 points, 12 rebounds and two assists to her tally for the season, she also found herself mocked.
Angel Reese drops shocking thoughts on Caitlin Clark
An air-ball whilst wide open left the 22-year-old to the wolves on social media as they laughed at her efforts when she completely missed the basket, which is to be expected since she’s shooting just 15.4% from the field.
Most 20/10 games on 60%+ shooting by a rookie in WNBA history:
6 — Candace Parker (2008)
5 — Yolanda Griffith (1999)
4 — Angel Reese (2024) pic.twitter.com/WQ1ioTY3Fv— StatMamba (@StatMamba) September 7, 2024
And during the game on Friday, September 6 she only managed a 38.4% field goal conversion rate, continuing to struggle from range, despite posting a double-double elsewhere with fans laughing.
But Reese should keep her head up. The ex-LSU Tiger and NCAA champion is now the third all-time in WNBA history for recording games of 20 points, 10 rebounds and a 60% or better shooting average from the field, according to StatMamba.
Only to MVP players rank ahead of her in Yolanda Griffith and Candace Parker, whilst Reese has six games to go to try to surpass them whilst she is averaging 13.6 points per game, 13.1 rebounds per game and 1.9 assists per game.

So despite shooting for 45.6% and a 38.4% field goal percentage, she continues to be lethal from close range as she continues to rack up the points for the Chicago Sky in and around the hoop.
