Italian boxer Angela Carini is getting dragged online following one of her workout videos surfaces on social media.

Carini was at the center of Olympic controversy on Thursday after abandoning a boxing match against Algerian Imane Khelif, who was accused of being a biological male.

It’s since been revealed that Khelif, whose country does not allow transgender operations, was actually born a woman. But the discussion remains, and it doesn’t appear it’s going anywhere soon.

A video has surfaced on social media, as mentioned above, showing Angela bench-pressing a very light weight with confusing vigor.

“She’s bench pressing 10 pounds and wondering why she’s losing against another woman,” the X/Twitter user who posted the video, which was taken from the boxer’s Instagram account, captioned it.

“she looks goofy af… brolic girlie ate her up,” a user wrote.

“This is the worst lift video ive ever seen?” another suggested.

“A whole Olympian and that’s all you got? You’re lucky you lasted 46 secs😭😭😭,” someone else wrote.

Many Fans Also Defended Angela Carini

Other users came to Angela Carini’s defense, pointing out that she must have been working on explosiveness as opposed to strength.

“I’m sure this has to be some type of specific training or rehab she’s doing,” one wondered.

“it helps train the speed, if you work on exploding the weight and controlling the pullback it works out the fast twitch muscle fibers,” a fan remarked.

“Sport specific training. Clearly something you know nothing about. This is an explosive drill boxers do frequently,” someone else said.

Meanwhile, Carini has since offered an apology to Imane Khelif, saying she respects the International Olympic Committee’s decision to allow the Algerian to fight.

She also expressed contrition for refusing to shake hands with Khelif after their brief bout, claiming her anger was directed at herself for having to end her Olympic dream prematurely.
