Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s second shot at love coming to an end, but were their signs well? Kind of.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have called it quits on their second time at love. The divorce everyone saw coming is finally official—Benifer is no more. JLo had officially given up trying to save yet another failed marriage after months of faking that everything was okay.

However, despite people speculating for months that their relationship was over and they were all waiting for a divorce, it turns out their divorce is about to get messier than their marriage. Their divorce has gotten so bad that Ben and JLo are rumored to not even be on speaking terms anymore. Hold on to your seats, ’cause I’m about to take you on a messy roller coaster of the mess that is Ben and JLo’s marriage.

Jennifer Lopez finally files for divorce from Ben Affleck, something we all saw coming for a long time. But in the end, there are a lot of major twists to this story.

So unless you have been living under a rock for the past couple of months, you know by now that JLo and Ben’s marriage has been on the rocks for a very long time. Rumors of their divorce have been going on for so long that it got to a point where some people started to believe that it was fake news.

Each time a headline about their divorce would pop up, JLo would turn up and say everything was okay. I mean, on June 2nd, just two months ago, JLo and Ben were seen together at Ben’s son’s basketball game. They were even embracing each other amidst all the divorce rumors. For crying out loud.

Benifer fans were getting into fights because people dared to tell them their favorite couple was about to divorce. But there was no evidence apart from being seen in public a lot. As far as the world knew, Benifer was going on strong. However, recent events have come to show us that it turns out that was all a lie.

As it turns out, JLo was just biding her time, and on August 20th, she finally decided to set in motion the last phase of her plan. According to TMZ, on August 20th, JLo walked into the LA County Superior Court and filed legal papers for her divorce from Ben. And you guys, you would assume someone like JLo, given her big celebrity status and her previous marriages, would have her lawyer file the paperwork.

Well, you would be mistaken. JLo did it all herself with no lawyer present. I kid you not when I say she was serious about this thing for good and she wanted to make a statement about it.

Now, if filing the divorce papers herself wasn’t a huge statement in and of itself, JLo decided to take things further and she filed for divorce on the anniversary of their wedding ceremony that was held in Georgia in 2022. The singer filed for divorce from the actor on August 20th after more than two years of marriage.

According to the filing obtained by multiple outlets, however, JLo reveals in the court documents that the couple actually broke up almost four months ago, listing their date of separation as April 26th. Just ten days later, Jennifer raised eyebrows when she stepped out at the 2024 Met Gala solo, sparking rumors that she and Ben were having issues. At the time, his rep shared that he was in Los Angeles to film “The Accountant 2.”

Now here is where the divorce drama really starts to get juicy. As we all know, it’s common practice for celebrities and wealthy people to protect themselves in a marriage by getting a prenup to ensure that they don’t get all their money taken away after a divorce.

Turns out Ben and JLo never bothered to get an agreement or any form of agreement, and if you know anything about the law, that is a huge deal. You see, in California, where JLo and Ben got married, when there is no prenup in place, the law says the court will divide their property and debts in accordance with California’s community property laws.

This can result in a 50/50 division of assets, including houses, bank accounts, retirement accounts, and other property, as well as debts. Now with this in mind, JLo and Ben will have to share whatever money they have earned during their two-year marriage, and they’re going to have to split it all.

And y’all, there is a lot to split. JLo has been in “Shotgun Wedding,” “The Mother,” “This Is Me Now,” and “Atlas,” while Ben has been doing his own projects like “Air,” “Hypnotic,” and he produced “The Instigators.” He also just wrapped filming “The Accountant 2,” and all that money that they’re going to have to split—all of it.

Given that this is JLo’s fourth marriage, you would assume that she would be well prepared and not forgetting Ben as well. This is his second marriage. How did neither of them think about this? According to TMZ, Benifer thought that this marriage would last forever, and that’s why neither of them bothered getting any prenup.

But that’s just the tip of the drama, loves. JLo waived her right to get spousal support after their divorce, like she doesn’t even need it. But that’s not the shocking part. JLo went out of her way to ask the judge to deny Ben spousal support as well. I mean, he doesn’t need it, but girl, JLo went out of her way to make sure Ben doesn’t get money from her. That’s shade.

And that’s not where the money drama ends. Apparently, JLo and Ben have been trying to find a pleasant way to split their money for months, but it has been far from pleasant.

All this money talk has been so heated that JLo and Ben have gotten to a point where they don’t talk at all. On multiple occasions, money drama aside, a source close to JLo stated the reason for JLo finally filing for divorce was that she had had enough.

Jennifer said that she was tired of being humiliated by Ben, and she waited until the two-year anniversary because she wanted it to sting, but it didn’t sting him. He’s been done for a long, long time, and deep down, she knows this. He let her have this so that she wouldn’t look like the villain.

Now, this divorce news caused some massive reactions on the internet. Just take a look at some of these: “Now Ben can smile again, and Jennifer can do her thing as usual.” “Both JLo and Ben are selfish brats. What a nightmare.” “Sad, not surprised with JLo. No man can last her.” “I think when JLo shared Ben’s private love letters with a group of musicians, Ben was done. Jennifer already knew Ben values his privacy, so then to offer up Ben’s most intimate feelings, something so sacred for the sake of her documentary, who does that? Ben may have his demons, but nobody deserves that. It showed Jennifer’s total lack of respect for Ben or their relationship. They both need to heal a lot of pain from their whole lives.”

“They have been through a lot along with the kids back here on YouTube. Just put a lovely video of Ben and Jen Garner with their kids eating at a restaurant looking so peaceful and happy.” “Isn’t this her fourth divorce? What’s next? Marriage number five, perhaps? This woman needs a hobby.” “Ben Affleck feels like he is a recovering alcoholic trying to successfully live under the same roof as somebody who suffers from addiction, and he spelled that out in the documentary.

He also stated in the documentary that he told JLo when they got back together he does not want a social media relationship, but he also honored the fact that he was dating somebody with a mass amount of fame and fans. But what he alluded to was that her fame, her fans, and her external validation and the love she seeks from them is insatiable.

It’s never enough, and that is when he started making addiction similarities, and he actually said it. He put the pin on the nose and he was like it’s like there’s not enough alcohol, and I went, ‘Oh, okay.’”

Now, of course, it’s no secret that JLo has had a complicated time when it comes to marriage. When JLo met Ben, she was still married at the time to her second husband Chris Judd. Not long after that, things in JLo’s marriage quickly went south, and JLo and her second husband decided to call things off in June of 2002.

In November of 2002, JLo decided to go public with her romance with Ben, making it official by including him in a scene from her hit song “Jenny From the Block.” However, come the following year, things didn’t appear to be going particularly well in their relationship, and they decided it was best if they ended things. JLo went on to marry Mark Anthony in June of 2004, and that marriage came to an end in 2014.

In typical JLo fashion, she moved on from Mark Anthony pretty fast because just four months after splitting with Mark, she started going out with Casper Smart, who was one of her backup dancers. The two had an on-and-off relationship until 2016 when they officially ended things because rumor has it that Casper cheated on JLo. And as soon as things between her and Casper were over, rumors started going around that Drake and JLo were together after Drake was spotted cheering her on during her Las Vegas residency performance

. However, despite their very public displays of affection, it didn’t take long for JLo to get rid of Drake and get together with Alex Rodriguez in 2017. Things appeared to be going well until they eventually broke up in April of 2021. Later that year, JLo reignited her romance with Ben Affleck, and the rest was history. But not anymore.

This was JLo’s last public relationship, and while she had claimed it would be forever, it turns out she was just like the rest, chasing the idea of love and marriage only to end up in heartbreak. How typical, really. Anyway, do you think Benifer’s split was inevitable? Share your thoughts in the comments below and make sure to hit the subscribe button for more videos like this.
