Las Vegas Aces guard Kate Martin has a close relationship with Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Las Vegas Aces guard Kate Martin were a fun duo at Iowa. With a well-known close friendship, Clark and Martin spent four seasons as teammates at Iowa before entering the 2024 WNBA draft together.

Clark went first overall to Indiana, while Martin went 18th to Las Vegas. It has been two very different rookie seasons for the close friends, as Clark has put together a historic campaign while Martin has mostly been outside the Aces’ rotation

Maintaining their relationship while playing in separate conferences, Clark and Martin have shared a moment each time they have crossed paths this season.

Clark made an Instagram post on Monday, September 16, for the first time since August 18. Tallying over 84,000 likes and 820 comments in one hour, Clark also received a three-word message from Martin.

Several other WNBA and college basketball players commented on Clark’s post, including Aliyah Boston, Flau’jae Johnson, Liz Kitley, Jada Gyamfi, Gabbie Marshall and more.

With a large following from her time at Iowa, Martin has 400,000 followers on Instagram. As for Clark, she is approaching 3M followers on Instagram.

Martin has appeared in 33 games (one start) for Las Vegas this season but has averaged just 10.9 minutes per game. Clark is entering Indiana’s season finale with averages of 19.5 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds.

There is a chance Clark and Martin face off in the first round of the WNBA playoffs. Indiana is locked into the sixth seed, and Las Vegas could finish third.
