Tyson Fury’s manager has confirmed that there will be no changes to the Brit’s corner during his highly anticipated rematch with Oleksandr Usyk. This decision comes after Fury’s first professional defeat in May, where he lost to Usyk by a split decision.

Fury, 35, is set to face Usyk again this coming December, with the winner likely to fight either Anthony Joshua or Daniel Dubois in March 2025. Despite the controversy surrounding his corner during the last fight, Fury’s team is confident in their current strategy.

During the initial bout, there was notable confusion in Fury’s corner. Traditionally, only one person speaks to a fighter between rounds, but in Riyadh, Fury’s father John, trainer SugarHill Steward, and assistant trainer Andy Lee were all seen giving him advice. This led to some contradictory guidance, drawing criticism from various quarters.

Spencer Brown, Fury’s manager, addressed the issue in a recent interview with Sky Sports. “There’ll be changes, not in management or his team, there’ll be some other stuff that he’ll be looking at training-wise,” Brown said. “With the closeness of the fight last time, it could have gone either way. Some people will say Usyk was three rounds in front, some people won’t, it’s your opinion on boxing – that’s why we love it.”

Despite the loss, Brown remains optimistic about Fury’s chances in the rematch. “Tyson Fury will be back. He’ll be firing and we’ll see a new, better, improved Tyson Fury,” he added. “At his age, I don’t know how much you can improve, but there was very, very little in the fight between them, so let’s back our British guy and I’m sure he will win and then we’re going to talk about the next stage.”

Dave Allen, a former heavyweight boxer and ex-sparring partner of both Fury and Usyk, also weighed in on the corner issue. In an interview with Boxing Social, Allen criticized the multiple voices in Fury’s corner. “[There were] just too many voices in the corner really,” Allen said. “SugarHill in the corner, he’s the only voice for me, but he’s getting advice from John as well. They’re telling him if you win the last round you’ve won the fight, but by this point you need a knockdown, you need to get him out of there.”

The rematch between Fury and Usyk is expected to be a high-stakes event, with significant pressure on Fury to reclaim his titles. Both fighters have been preparing rigorously, and fans are eager to see how the “Gypsy King” will adapt and respond to his first professional defeat.

With the fight scheduled for December, the boxing world will be watching closely to see if Fury can make the necessary adjustments and come out victorious against Usyk. The outcome of this rematch could significantly impact the heavyweight division, setting the stage for future matchups with other top contenders like Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois.

As Fury prepares for what could be one of the most critical fights of his career, his team and fans remain hopeful that the lessons learned from his previous encounter with Usyk will pave the way for a triumphant return to the ring.
