The UFCâs dazzling middleweight star known for his striking prowess recently found himself in a less-than-stellar situation. After a tough loss to Dricus du Plessis, it seems Israel Adesanyaâs frustrations detoured from the Octagon to the streets of New Zealand.
The altercation, which has now gone viral, unfolded with Adesanya standing next to his sleek McLaren. The car was decked out with a personalized plate that reads âKURAMA.â He appeared to be in an argument with another driver.
In the video, Adesanya appears agitated as he exchanges words with another driver. He tells the man to âf*** offâ and makes a show of opening his McLarenâs door. Tensions escalate quickly as Adesanya hurls a few choice insults. Things got even more intense when he spit towards the other driverâs feet.
The back-and-forth continued as Adesanya advised the other driver to âwalk awayâ and dismissed his car as a âbeat-up piece of s***.â The verbal sparring ended with a flourish: a middle finger and a taunt to âfight me, I pray for you to try me.â As dramatic as it sounds, the situation ended as the person who filmed the video drove away, leaving the resolution up in the air.
Israel Adesanya Faced Legal Troubles For DUI Charges In August 2023
Adesanyaâs personal life recently took a rough turn. Just weeks before the fight with Sean Strickland, he had a run-in with the law thatâs now adding a heavy layer of controversy to his career.
On August 19, 2023, Adesanya was arrested for driving under the influence in Auckland, New Zealand. The legal drama unfolded quickly as Adesanya blew a blood alcohol level of 87 milligrams per 100 milliliters, well over New Zealandâs legal limit of 50 milligrams.
His courtroom appearance was straightforward: He pleaded guilty to the DUI charges. The legal fallout could have been significant. On Jan 10, Adesanya appeared in court for his verdict. Judge Peter Winter abstained from convicting him. However, he suspended Israel Adesanyaâs driverâs license for a period of six months. The judge further ordered him to pay a sum of $1,500 to a charity and enroll in a stop-drink driving program.
