‘HE MOCKING ME’ Jake Paul Condemned By Boxing Legend For ‘Degrading’ Mike Tyson With Upcoming Bout | HO

Controversy Surrounds Rescheduled Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul Fight

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson were slated to face off at Arlington’s AT&T Stadium last week, but due to an ulcer flare-up Tyson suffered in May, their much-anticipated bout has been postponed to November. This delay has given fans, analysts, and former boxers more time to weigh in on the matchup.

The Paul-Tyson fight has been a hot topic, primarily because 58-year-old Tyson is returning to the ring after a 19-year hiatus. Recently, comments from boxing legend Bernard Hopkins, a contemporary of Tyson during their prime years, have resurfaced, highlighting the mixed reactions the fight is generating. Hopkins, for one, is not impressed and believes the event, despite its potential to draw significant viewership on Netflix, tarnishes Tyson’s legacy.

Hopkins, a former undisputed middleweight champion whose career spanned nearly 30 years, expressed his disapproval in a candid interview with Fight Hub TV. He criticized Tyson for agreeing to fight Paul, a master promoter willing to take substantial risks for financial gain.

“I don’t like it,” Hopkins stated bluntly about the fight, now set for November 15. “I look at Mike differently in the context of my era, like people looked at (Muhammad) Ali.”

Hopkins, who retired in 2016 at the age of 59, went further to say he has no intention of watching the fight, which he has dismissed as a “sideshow.”

“I could watch two turtles race and be more excited,” Hopkins remarked. “I just think it degrades (Tyson).”

Despite his health concerns, Tyson appears eager to fight Paul, the 27-year-old former YouTube star who is quickly gaining recognition in the boxing world. While boxing great Lennox Lewis has previously shown enthusiasm for the fight, it is clear that Hopkins is firmly in the camp of the detractors.

As the new fight date approaches, the debate over whether Tyson should be stepping back into the ring continues to intensify, with strong opinions on both sides.
