Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese continues to make waves in his debut WNBA campaign. She broke Sylvia Fowles’ single-season rebounding record by grabbing her 405th rebound in their loss to the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday.

Angel Reese is not the most polished offensive player in the WNBA, but she makes up for it with her motor. And as the WNBA Rookie of the Year race between her and Caitlin Clark intensifies, Reese recently addressed her critics on how she plays basketball.

“Coming into the WNBA, I just knew my motor,” Reese said. “Offensive rebounds and defensive rebounds are something that I know I can always do. I knew it was going to translate right away. That’s something that a lot of players don’t want to do.”

“A lot of people think it’s because I get my own (misses), but statistically, it’s not. People think it’s because I’m the tallest on the court, when I’m not the tallest on the court. So, just being able to go down there and being able to bang, doing things that a lot of people don’t want to do. Defense and rebounding wins championships. And I’ve won championships at every level by just doing that,” she added.

Chicago Sky’s playoff hopes are in jeopardy

Despite breaking records left and right, Angel Reese’s production hasn’t been enough to stop the team from losing. The Chicago Sky have lost seven consecutive games and are hanging on for dear life at the eighth spot.

Their best chance to return to the winning track is their upcoming games against the 11th-seeded Dallas Wings and the 12th-seeded Los Angeles Sparks.

As for Angel Reese, she is poised to make more history because she is just five double-doubles away from breaking Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas’ single-season double-double mark (28).
