Simone Biles SHUTS DOWN JD Vance, Makes Him Eat His Words | HO

JD Vance makes poorly aged comment about Simone Biles in resurfaced clip | The Independent

We’ve tried to turn a very tragic moment—Simone Biles quitting the Olympic team—into an act of heroism. This reflects poorly on our therapeutic society, which praises people for their weakest moments rather than their strengths and acts of heroism. Being an athlete is tough, especially at that level. A normal response would be to say it’s a shame she’s going through this and that she quit. Instead, the press has turned it into a therapeutic moment, praising her for quitting, and that’s where the problem lies.

An insane comment from Guyliner here, and no shade, by the way. Just own it. What grinds my gears is JD Vance, a man who crapped on rural America by grifting off a book that libs promoted and sold his soul to Peter Thiel, couldn’t walk a day in Simone Biles’ shoes. Vance is referencing when Biles opted out of competing because she had the twisties, a condition described by The Washington Post as losing control of their bodies while spinning through the air. This leads to instinct being replaced by thought, thought to worry, and worry to potentially devastating injuries.

So Simone Biles decided not to compete in the gold medal competition. She was representing her nation and made a tough decision. Yet, some people have called her selfish and immature. They claim she is a sociopath for skipping the gold medal match, a shame to the country. They argue that she showed the nation that when things get tough, you shatter into a million pieces. This is simply not accurate and leads to unwarranted attacks on Biles.

Simone Biles herself said, “My gymnastics was kind of janky. I was having twisties already, but I’m trying to push past that, and I would literally tell my teammates, ‘I’m fighting demons. I’m fighting demons right now, but I’m going to do it for you guys.’ As soon as I landed, I kind of grinned, saluted, and wanted to run. If I could have gotten a plane and flown home, I would have. As soon as I landed, I thought, ‘America hates me. The world is going to hate me.’ I could only imagine what they were saying on Twitter.”

Conservatives like Charlie Kirk, with loyal followings, spout this rhetoric, which leads to such vitriol. Kirk, who promotes a 100% drug-free pain relief product, admits he could barely walk a year ago, yet criticizes Biles for prioritizing her health.

Sean Melton, a former elite gymnast who dealt with the twisties, said, “Your life is in danger when you’re doing gymnastics, and when you add the unknown of not being able to control your body while doing these extremely dangerous skills, it adds an extreme level of stress. It’s terrifying, honestly, because you have no idea what is going to happen.”

Simone Biles chose not to compete because she didn’t want to risk injury. She said, “I didn’t want to do something silly out there and get injured. So I thought it was best if these girls took over and did the rest of the job, which they absolutely did.”

Despite this, the attacks from the right continued. Some commentators claimed it was a massive issue for the U.S. women’s gymnastics team and felt bad for the teammates and alternates. This is hypocritical, especially considering the challenges Biles has faced, including dealing with Larry Nassar and becoming the most decorated champion ever.

In conclusion, it’s okay to prioritize mental health, even in big competitions. This shows strength and self-awareness. Yet, there is a double standard, and unfortunately, the attacks keep coming from those who don’t understand or appreciate the gravity of the situation.
