Analyst Rich Eisen takes shots at WNBA and its officials for calling a technical foul on Caitlin Clark for showing frustrations.“Are you out of your mind?” Caitlin Clark issued technical foul has longtime analyst calling out WNBA officials

Caitlin Clark is finally showing some semblance of her college exploits in the WNBA. In back-to-back games she has dominated the headlines with her elite play both as a scorer as well as a passer. But those exploits were overshadowed in the last game as the Seattle Storm made questionable actions towards the end of the game. Leaving that aside, longtime analyst Rich Eisen pointed out another issue.

He was discussing the actions from that game with his panel on The Rich Eisen Show. He specifically pointed out the technical foul she was issued:

Could you imagine being an official and telling Caitlin Clark that she's being disrespectful to the game. Like what malfunction must be occurring in somebody's temples to say such a thing. Are you out of your mind? Imagine coming to work that day and saying something like that to Caitlin Clark. I shouldn't even go down the road of what she does and how she conducts herself.

Eisen was livid that a referee could call a technical foul after Clark slammed her hand on the post. That too, for being angry with her own mistake.

Rich Eisen’s Message Anyone Who Thinks Caitlin Clark Is Being Disrespectful to Basketball

Rich Eisen knows that such a call would never be made in the NBA. According to him, for the officiating to have double standards when it comes to the WNBA, was appalling, especially when considering how the rookie star has been conducting herself.

The entire sporting world knows that Caitlin Clark is exceptionally poised when it comes to handling herself—not getting caught into any unnecessary war of words., not fueling any fires which could be detrimental for the league. Which is why, she used that technical foul to fuel her drive.

Caitlin Clark used technical foul to fuel her fourth quarter drive

In that game, the Indiana Fever were going neck and neck with the Seattle Storm until Caitlin Clark was called for the technical foul. She revealed in the post-game press conference how she used that to motivate her:

He told me it was disrespectful to the game of basketball. It reminded me of the technical I got in college, where I said dammit, where it’s like a personal frustration. But I think he fired me up to continue to play a lot harder. So, I want to thank him for that.

She essentially took it in her stride instead of complaining about it, as she knows that complaining won’t get her anywhere.

Instead, she fueled the fourth quarter drive that demolished the championship contenders. The Indiana Fever won that quarter 33-17 as Clark and her teammates pushed the pace to seal the win. That eventually led to the now-viral encounter with Skylar Diggins-Smith.

It seems the WNBA and its officials need to adjust to Caitlin Clark’s competitive style. They might not have encountered a player like her before, but they could take cues from the NBA, where showing emotion is generally not reprimanded.
