A woman who was born without legs has now become a world record breaker!
Kanya Sesser successfully completed and broke the record for the longest handstand on a skateboard (LA3) and will now be featured in Guinness World Records 2025, the organization said in a press release.
Sesser, 31 — who is an athlete, actress and runway model — completed the feat in 19.65 seconds in Los Angeles, per Guinness World Records.
“No legs, no limits,” Sesser said in a statement. “I think it’s one of the life-changing career moments that have happened to me.”
She added, “It’s so incredible to me to make history for others to see. I have made an impact on others for the next generations to come.”

Sesser was born in 1992 with “a congenital absence of both legs,” according to Guinness World Records.
She was found at the side of the road as an infant and brought to a hospital by a woman who found her while passing by.
From there, a nurse and other hospital personnel took care of her until 1998, when she was adopted at age 5 by an American family — parents Jane and Dave and two older brothers — who moved her to Portland, Oregon.
Sesser told Guinness World Records that a language barrier and having webbed fingers, which she underwent “several surgeries” for, were obstacles she faced while growing up.

Still, despite the challenges in her life, Sesser stayed active and participated in various sports, including wheelchair racing, wheelchair rugby, swimming and sledge hockey, to name a few, per Guinness World Records.
She eventually tried skateboarding — and it was an instant love. “My first attempt was riding down the hill by my house and it was the best feeling ever,” Sesser told Guinness World Records.
The athlete later made history in the sport that allowed her to be invited to the X Games in 2019 and the Dew Tour in 2022.
“I have connections with other skaters and adaptive competitions and athletes to skate with, but also build a great community so we can keep the adaptive skate going throughout other generations,” Sesser said of the skating community.

Looking at her life, Sesser told Guiness World Records that it’s important to her to be a role model for all individuals.
Her go-to advice? “Just know that you’re not the only one that’s insecure, even the ones who seem perfect they’re not,” she said. “No one’s perfect, and we all have our insecurities.”
