Caitlin Clark went viral last year when she hit the “You Can’t See Me” celebration against Louisville in the Elite Eight. An Angel Reese fan has claimed that Clark started it all by taunting the then-LSU star, but a YouTuber proved that it wasn’t directed at anyone but Iowa’s strength coach.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Cant_Teach_Real claimed that Reese just finished what Clark had started last year. The LSU product directly taunted Clark after winning the NCAA championship, but some AR fans made the wrong conclusion.

“Legend Of Winning”, a popular YouTube NBA account, shared an interview featuring Hailey Van Lith explaining that Clark didn’t taunt Reese and that the media just twisted everything. The account also tweeted:

“Brother how are you this loud and wrong. Caitlin Clark didn’t do this to Angel Reese. Caitlin Clark didn’t do this to another team. Caitlin Clark did it to HER OWN strength coach. YOU are making it something that it is not.”

Hailey Van Lith clearly explained that it was all just camera angles and the media doing their thing last year.

Clark didn’t use the “You Can’t See Me” to taunt Reese, but it was directly at Iowa’s strength coach. HVL even added that she texted Clark after the game, and they laughed at all the media narratives being presented.

Nevertheless, some fans ran with the wrong conclusion that Clark did it first to Angel Reese, who just clapbacked. While Reese was criticized for taunting her rival after the 2023 NCAA championship game, Clark had no problem with that, but others still use it to spew hate on social media.

Here’s what Clark said:

“I don’t think Angel should be criticized at all. No matter which way it goes, she should never be criticized for what she did. I’m just one that competes, and she competed. I think everybody knew there was going to be a little bit of trash talk in the entire tournament. It’s not just me and Angel.”

There was a lot of debate early in the season regarding the Rookie of the Year race between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. However, Clark has seemingly run away with the award due to her performances and team record.

Reese is making history with her double-doubles, but the Chicago Sky are on a six-game losing streak. Her rebounding shouldn’t be discredited, but her shooting percentage within five feet at the rim has been atrocious.

Meanwhile, Clark’s turnovers are still a problem, but she has made up for them with her more efficient shooting and playmaking. She’s also in the MVP race, just behind A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces and Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx, as per the latest betting odds.
