Van Lith and her Team USA outfit have lost three straight basketball games

Hailey Van Lith, slaughtered by critics at the Olympics: They should fire the person who chose her

Hailey Van Lith is the source of blame for Team USA‘s struggles in 3×3 basketball according to fans as the young star’s side lose three of their opening four matches at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Defeats to GermanyAzerbaijan and Australia saw the USA bottom of their group stage pool and staring down the barrel of an early exit just three years after they won gold in Tokyo, the capital of Japan.

A victory over Spain saw them keep their qualification hopes alive but fans are absolutely disappointed and shocked at the performances as they lay the blame at the feet of Van Lith, who helped shoot them to World Cup glory in 2023.

One user posted to X.com, formerly Twitter, “Whoever picked Hailey Van Lith should be fired. Literally, she can only shoot. 3×3 ain’t about shooting. It’s about layups and defense.”

A second added, “Team USA 3-on-3 basketball team’s been getting whooped lol. But I saw that coming when they put Hailey Van Lith on the team, smh.”

Whilst a third concluded, “Hailey Van Lith needs to be in the performance center.”

Van Lith throws down the challenge

Thank you for watching

After losing their opening three games, including to Azerbaijan in what was a major upset, the USA have given themselves a chance to slip through and keep their Olympic ambitions alive for another day.

The 17-11 win against Spain gives them a shot and they boosted their ambitions with a slender 14-13 win against France on August 2, leaving them sixth and in the play-in spots with games against Canada and China to come

But in order to try to climb up the order and find a way to win gold as they did three years ago, Van Lith calls for them to bet aggressive and strong.

“We’re gonna have to play tough and get on a roll here, but we still have a chance,” Van Lith told the Dallas Morning News.
