Wilson replied to the WNBA legend.

In a primetime matchup against the Indiana Fever on Wednesday night, Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson set a new all-time WNBA record for points scored in a single season.

Wilson surpassed the previous mark of 939 set by Seattle Storm All-Star Jewell Loyd in the 2023 season. With a pull-up midrange jump shot just before the halftime break, the MVP frontrunner recorded her 941st point of the 2024 season.

Wilson finished the game with 27 points, bringing her season total to 956. Behind this stellar performance, she led the reigning-champion Aces to an 86-75 victory over Caitlin Clark and the Fever.

This record-breaking performance caught the attention of prominent figures around the basketball world — including WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes.

“To THE BEST player in the world @_ajawilson22. We see you, we hear you, we feel you and we got you! Continue to be you because you are GREATNESS!” Swoopes wrote on X.

Wilson replied to this message with white heart and prayer hands emojis.

Wilson is dominating the league in her seventh WNBA season, averaging a league-leading 27.3 points along with 11.9 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game.

Wilson and the Aces will face off against Clark and the Fever in a rematch on Friday night.
