Caitlin Clark recorded 19 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds in Saturday’s upset victory over the New York Liberty, making her the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double.

After the game, Indiana Fever head coach Christie Sides was asked to make the case for Clark as the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year.

In her response, Sides compared Clark’s competitive spirit to that of all-time great WNBA veteran Diana Taurasi.

“I’m always gonna make a case for my players. First and foremost she is the most competitive human being I’ve ever met. I really compare her to Diana Taurasi,” Sides said.

“She’s always looking to find way to get better,” Sides continued. “… She found her rhythm tonight… She’s going to be my Rookie of the Year everyday.”

Clark was one rebound away from recording a triple-double in this past Sunday’s win over Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury. Clark and Taurasi will face off in another matchup when the Fever and Mercury meet on July 12.
