The season is officially over for Angel Reese. This is after the Chicago Sky star revealed that she is set to undergo season-ending surgery on her wrist after she injured it during Chicago’s 92-78 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday, September 6.
“It’s not easy at 22,” she said. “At 22 going through this, but I give myself grace. I’m so happy for my rookie year. I did amazing for my expectations, for what I wanted. Obviously, I wanted more, but God’s timing, it’s not was my timing.
“That’s why I’ve been in such good spirits because I’ve been through this before and it’s literally small to a giant.”
Reese then went on to fire a blunt warning to the rest of the league about what to expect from her come next season.
“I’m looking forward to this minor setback to a major comeback,” she stated. “Year 2 is about to get scary hours.”
Based on her statement here, it is clear that for Angel Reese, Year 1 was just the beginning. She expects so much more from herself, and there is no doubt in her mind that she’s just scratched the surface.
The rest of the WNBA better be ready.
Reese’s debut campaign comes to an end after 34 games played. During that incredible stretch, she produced averages of 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals in 32.5 minutes per contest.
