On January 27, the leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, billionaire Donald Trump, announced that he would boycott the important debate organized by Fox News on the evening of January 28.

The simple reason is that the moderator of the debate is the famous female journalist Megyn Kelly, who once made the real estate tycoon “sweat on television”. Donald Trump believes that this female journalist always treats him unfairly and often puts him in a difficult position with difficult questions, according to BFM TV.

Observers say this is a risky move, showing Donald Trump’s fear of this female journalist. As the race for the official Republican nomination is reaching a decisive moment, the 70-year-old billionaire’s absence from such an important debate could have a negative impact on him in the context of the Iowa primary election taking place in the next few days.

Megyn Kelly’s full name is Megyn Marie Kelly, a journalist and political commentator for Fox News, the favorite television channel of Republican members in the United States.

Born in 1970, Megyn Kelly earned a Juris Doctorate and pursued a career in this field for 9 years. During her time as a lawyer, she enrolled in journalism training classes and entered the journalism industry as an intern at  WMAQ TV , an NBC News affiliate   in Chicago. After working at several local stations, Megyn Kelly officially joined Fox News in 2004 .

With her talent for journalism, Megyn Kelly quickly became a prominent face of this channel and was always assigned many important responsibilities. From 2007-2012, she was assigned to host the special New Year program All American New Year of  Fox News .

Thanks to her role as a famous political commentator, in 2014 Megyn Kelly was included in the list of 100 most influential people in the world  voted by Time  magazine

Megyn Kelly is often known for her harsh political statements on television.

During a Republican debate in Cleveland last August, Megyn Kelly repeatedly criticized billionaire Donald Trump for using derogatory language toward women on social media, and questioned whether this was appropriate behavior for someone running for US president.

The female journalist also asked how Donald Trump would respond to Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton if she thought he was waging a war against women.

In response to these criticisms, the 70-year-old real estate tycoon repeatedly accused Megyn Kelly of treating him unfairly on television.  On August 7, 2015, in an interview with CNN , Donald Trump insulted Megyn Kelly, claiming that she asked him difficult questions while she was in a “difficult” period: “You could see blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her, everywhere.”  Megyn Kelly remained silent.

On January 26, before the real estate billionaire announced his boycott of the debate, Megyn Kelly said that Donald Trump, as a tycoon, should get used to not being able to control everything, especially the media.

Megyn Kelly has been praised by the American media for demonstrating the strength and role of women on a television channel that is considered to have a conservative bias and a pro-Republican viewpoint like  Fox News . According to FAIR statistics, most of the guests on Fox News ‘ political commentary are Republican politicians, of which 93% are men.

Vanity Fair magazine also published her picture on the front page, affirming that Megyn Kelly deserves the respect of all her colleagues in the US, something that not every Fox News journalist can achieve.

“She has devoted many years to  Fox News , with her own opinions and sensitivity, she has created great programs. Her colleagues at Fox News, especially boss  Roger Ailes, have always supported her. For me, the interview between Megyn Kelly and Mr. Donald Trump is a symbol of the professionalism of journalism, I admire her,” said Laurence Haim, resident correspondent at the White House for Canal+ and iTélé
