Skepta Teases New Track Featuring Kanye West During MAINS Fashion Show


Skepta debuted a new track with Kanye West at his MAINS fashion show last night (14th September). Fans have dubbed the unreleased track ‘Cash Cow,’ which was first teased by West in mid-August during a ‘Vultures 2’ listening party in LA. Skepta offered a fresh preview of the song during his brand’s runway event.

The track includes the lyrics “When it’s war time, I go Rambo / You want tap dance, you want sambo / It’s too many floors, I got ample / I just give and go, like I planned to.”


It’s still uncertain whether the track will feature on Skepta’s highly anticipated album ‘Knife and Fork’, which marks his first release in five years since 2019’s ‘Ignorance is Bliss’. The upcoming sixth album has yet to be given an official release date.

Skepta originally launched MAINS in 2017 but paused the brand two years later after an amicable split with his manufacturing partner, according to Vogue. MAINS made its comeback in 2022, and ahead of last night’s show, Skepta held an open casting call for models. This isn’t the first time Skepta and Kanye have collaborated. In 2018, Skepta, along with Wiley, was credited as a composer on West’s album ‘ye’, contributing to the opener ‘I Thought About Ki**ing You’. The two were also in the studio together in 2015, following West’s Brit Awards performance, where he brought out Skepta and other UK grime artists for ‘All Day’.


Earlier this year, Skepta made his filmmaking debut with the short film ‘Tribal Mark’, where he served as both co-director and lead actor. Following its release, Skepta revealed that he made plans to expand the story into a full-length feature film.

“It’s like the Black James Bond thing that everyone was trying to do,” Skepta said. “We wanted to make something [where] after I’ve done the movie, I’m like, ‘OK, cool – it’s the franchise now.”

Earlier this year, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign released ‘Vultures 2’, the second installment of their ‘Vultures’ album trilogy, which arrived five months later than originally planned. While the album was expected to top the Billboard 200, Taylor Swift’s latest release, ‘The Tortured Poet’s Department’, claimed the top spot, ending West’s 19-year streak of debuting at Number One.

The duo had previously released ‘Vultures 1’ in February, which was criticized as “far from his best” and “mired in misogyny.” The album featured artists like Freddie Gibbs, YG, Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, and even West’s daughter, North.

‘Vultures 2’ has received mixed reactions from fans and critics, and has sparked controversy with Geoff Barrow, who accused West and Ty Dolla $ign of sampling Portishead’s ‘Machine Gun’ on one of the tracks without permission. Barrow posted a clip of Field Trip—featuring Don Toliver, Kodak Black, and Playboi Carti—on X/Twitter, suggesting the track used elements from Portishead.
