Grammy-award winning rapper Cardi B has made no secret of the fact that she’s had a few cosmetic procedures done. Most recently, she had liposuction and breast augmentation after the birth of her first child, Kulture Kiari, last July.

At the Beale Street Music Festival earlier this month she told the audience: “I should have cancelled today, because moving too much is gonna fuck up my lipo. But bitch, I’m still gonna get this motherfucking money bag. Let’s go!”

The 26-year-old, who welcomed her daughter with fellow rapper and husband Offset last year, elaborated about her surgery on the red carpet. She told ET that the liposuction process was “hard”.

And now Cardi is pushing back against critics who have questioned her decision to go under the knife and accused her of being “lazy”.

Speaking live on Instagram, Cardi said: “I do whatever the fuck I want to do with my body, I don’t have the time of day like you do. My job as an entertainer is a 24-hour job, bro. So no I don’t have time to work out. I wanted specific things that I know that no matter how much I work out won’t get fixed.”

She also said that the procedures had impacted her ability to perform and it was costing her “millions of dollars”.

“I hate cancelling shows because I love money. I’m a money addict,” Cardi said.

She continued: “I get paid a lot of money, a lot of money for these shows. A lot of money. I’m cancelling millions of dollars in shows, but health is wealth so I have to do what I have to do.”

Cardi has pulled out of a series of shows, including performances in Baltimore and a concert in El Paso, Texas.

A representative for the rapper told People magazine: “Cardi was overzealous in getting back to work; she didn’t take the time necessary to fully recover from her surgery.

“Her strenuous schedule has taken a toll on her body and she has been given strict doctor’s orders to pull out of the rest of her performances in May,” the rep added.

Cardi also shared that the stitches on the inside of her breast were yet to fully heal and that she had received additional warnings from her doctor.

“My doctor was like ‘yo you can not be doing all these shows because you’re not fully healed and I keep telling you this and then if something happens to you you’re going to try to blame me,’” Cardi said.

She also noted the impact of air travel on her body, which would make travelling around the country for shows difficult. She explained: “The way that my body be swelling up when I catch planes and shit, it’s so scary that I be freaking out, I really be freaking out. I would show y’all a picture of my feet, of my feet and my cankles, when I swell up, when I get on planes, but y’all gonna be making fucking fun of me.”

Cardi also used the moment to speak directly to fans who were left disappointed after a string of cancellations. She said: “I just really wanted to apologise to my fans.”
