The Cavalry will not be too happy with Kevin Feige’s comments

Deadpool & Wolverine brought Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine/Logan. After the 2017 movie Logan, the actor had taken off his adamantium claws and hung up his superhero suit. But now, a few years down the line, he is ready to get back into the groove and slash through his enemies (and a few friends). I mean, there is no way he isn’t taking his claws through the mouthy merc.

But back when news of his retirement hit the market, one thing that was on everyone’s mind was who would become the next Wolverine. From Daniel Radcliffe to Taron Egerton to Henry Cavill, a lot of names popped up. But none ever came close to confirmation, and now we already have Jackman back. But even then, sooner or later, the actor is going to bid farewell to this character for good, and fans are eager to know who might take on the mantle next.

Kevin Feige Gives His Two Cents On Who Could Be The Next Wolverine

Henry Cavill’s name has popped up quite a lot in terms of who could take on the mantle of Wolverine next, once Hugh Jackman leaves the franchise for good. While he may not be the favorite, he does have a sway with the fans. He is one of the strongest contenders to take on the role, given his talent and physicality. However, Marvel boss Kevin Feige does not seem to have the same thoughts on the matter.

Talking about a possible recast of the character, Feige said that although they do not have any immediate plans to cast another actor, it will eventually happen. But the plan is to cast someone different from Jackman so that people can differentiate between the old Wolverine and the new. Casting a similar actor, according to Feige, would be a mistake. Talking to DiscussingFilm, the Marvel boss said:

I think these characters will be around for another 100 years, long after all of us. So, for sure, there will be [eventually another actor as Wolverine]. I think it will be in a very different style and in a different way. I also think if somebody were to attempt to do a Hugh Jackman as Wolverine impression, that would be a pretty big mistake.

Whether these characters go on for 100 more years or not, their legacy is never-ending. And whether it is Henry Cavill, Daniel Radcliffe, or someone else entirely, whoever is cast as Wolverine will have big shoes to fill.

Why Kevin Feige’s Comment Spells Doom For Henry Cavill’s Wolverine Future

So far no new name has been announced by Marvel Studios to take on the role of Wolverine. But Henry Cavill being Henry Cavill is a name that fans want to see in every new project. And Wolverine is no exception. But Kevin Feige’s latest comment does not bode well for Henry Cavill’s future as Wolverine. Given the similarities between the two actors, their acting as well as their physicality, it would more or less feel like the same as having Hugh Jackman in the role.

As comic readers know, there have been various and very, very different versions of these characters over the decades. It would be fun to explore different ones someday down the line. Again, we don’t have immediate plans by any means. But in the decades to come, I think it’s inevitable.

While having a new Wolverine is inevitable, casting Henry Cavill in the role will probably not be the choice Marvel Studios ends up making. Let’s keep waiting to see what the upcoming movie has in store for us – the audience, as well as the character of Wolverine. Deadpool & Wolverine will hit theaters worldwide on July 26, 2024.
