Dana White Goes Off On Jake Paul For Calling Out Alex Pereira- “Calls People Out For Attention”
Alex Pereira and Jake Paul
UFC CEO Dana White has once again found himself at the center of a heated debate. This time, the outspoken promoter has taken aim at YouTube sensation turned-boxer Jake Paul. This comes on the heels after Paul called out UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira.
The saga began when Paul, fresh off his victory over Mike Perry, issued a challenge to Pereira. The callout, which seemed to gain traction after a FaceTime call between the two fighters, has now drawn the ire of the UFC’s head honcho. White didn’t mince words when addressing the potential matchup during a candid appearance on the Full Send Podcast.
“I wonder if the commission would even let that fu**ing fight happen…[Pereira] would kick [Paul’s] head to another planet…[Jake] calls people out for attention. Alex is this superstar right now, so Jake calls him out, and Jake gets press,” said White.
But the UFC boss didn’t stop there. He went on to question Paul’s motives, accusing the social media star of manufacturing controversy for publicity. White painted Paul as an attention-seeking missile homing in on the UFC’s latest superstar.
It seems the idea of Pereira vs. Paul will remain firmly in the realm of fantasy matchmaking. But in a world where a YouTuber can become a boxing sensation and MMA fighters regularly cross over into the ring, who knows what the future might hold?
Dana White Reveals Alex Pereira’s PPV Numbers Compared To Jake Paul’s
White, known for his no-nonsense approach and unapologetic remarks, recently dismissed the idea of a fight between Pereira and Paul. And according to White, Pereira, the UFC star, is a significantly more substantial pay-per-view (PPV) draw compared to Paul, the YouTube-turned-boxer.
Transitioning to the financial aspect of their potential bout, White made a striking comparison. He asserted that Alex Pereira sells much more pay-per-views than Jake Paul. This bold claim highlights the contrasting appeal of the two fighters. Dana White argues that Pereira’s genuine fighting skill and star power make him a far more significant draw in the pay-per-view arena.
“[Pereira] sells 400 times the fu**ing pay-per-views. The Jake Paul fight that just happened didn’t sell any fu**ing pay-per-views. I’ll give [Paul] this; it’s fascinating that they keep getting new deals done,” said White in the same podcast.
The disparity in their apparent drawing power reflects broader trends in combat sports. Jake Paul’s bouts typically feature high-profile but sometimes mismatched opponents designed to generate buzz rather than showcase genuine boxing talent. On the other hand, Alex Pereira’s appeal stems from his accomplishments and skill within the sport, resonating with a more traditional sports audience that values authentic competition.
