In a recent interview with Brett Okamoto, Abdelaziz was asked if a Justin Gaethje vs. Conor McGregor fight might be in the works, especially with Michael Chandler now booked against Charles Oliveira for UFC 309. There’s no denying it would be a solid matchup, with both fighters being top-tier. Regarding the potential fight, Abdelaziz said that while Gaethje doesn’t care about fighting McGregor, he wouldn’t mind it since it’s “easy money.”

In his words, “Everybody likes easy money. He is one of the easiest fights in the UFC’s lightweight division. He’s coked out, drunked out, getting kicked out of countries, and behaving badly. He got kicked out of Monaco I believe. Honestly, if the UFC wants to make it, why not? If they don’t, who cares about it.”

It’s clear that fans don’t get as excited about McGregor news as they once did. After nearly a year of headlines and even being booked to fight Chandler, ‘The Notorious’ pulled out at the last second. His repeated talk of comebacks has definitely tarnished some of the goodwill he once had. Talking about his comeback, White stated, “Conor McGregor will fight next year, early 2025. As far as hunger, he’s a very wealthy guy, we’ll find out when he comes back.”
