Khabib Nurmagomedov Drops Big Money on Dustin Poirier’s UFC 302 Fight Kit
Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier
Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier are two of the biggest icons of the sport, and they have immense respect for each other. The two have fought against each other, but that doesn’t diminish their mutual admiration. As such, ‘The Eagle’ stepped in to help ‘The Diamond’ out with his charity and bought significant memorabilia of his UFC 302 fight.
Nurmagomedov recently bought Poirier’s fight kit from UFC 302, including his first golden gloves, for a whopping $30,000. There were talks of him buying it but now, it has been confirmed.
Dustin Poirier’s UFC 302 fight was against Islam Makhachev, where he went five rounds with the champion, losing the bout in the last round via a D’Arce choke. So this kit held a significant value for the ‘Diamond’ and Nurmagomedov, Makhachev’s coach and longtime friend.
All of the proceeds from this transaction would go to Dustin Poirier’s charity, The Good Fight Foundation. His organization helps people in need, giving backpacks to school children, making wells in Africa, and much more. The Louisiana native is as soft-hearted outside the Octagon as he is tough inside it.
Khabib Nurmagomedov Sells Dustin Poirier’s T-Shirt; Gives the Proceeds To His Charity
Nurmagomedov and Poirier share a history as the two fought for the title back in 2019 at UFC 242. The fight went to ‘The Eagle’ as he choked out the ‘Diamond’ to retain his belt. But, the aftermath of the fight was what won the hearts of people in the MMA world.
Dustin Poirier and Khabib Nurmagomedov swapped their T-shirts after the fight. But what came of this was unexpected for Poirier. He revealed that the Dagestani native had sold his shirt for a whopping $100,000 and donated all of this to the Good Fight Foundation.
“And why I wear this t-shirt? I know Dustin do lot of charity stuff. Guys, make sure, I’m gonna sell this t-shirt. All this money I’m gonna send Dustin Poirier. This is what I want, you know,” Nurmagomedov at the UFC 242 post-fight interview.
This was a huge amount for Poirier’s charity. The cherry on top came when UFC CEO Dana White revealed that he would match Khabib Nurmagomedov’s donation to The Good Fight Foundation. With more than $200,000 raised, Poirier had some good funds to help many people in need.
