Khamzat Chimaev is never one to shy away from controversy, as the UFC star recently made headlines not for his fight skills but for a disturbing remark. In a viral conversation on X spaces, Chimaev referred to UFC champ Dricus du Plessis with a homophobic slur.

Chimaev’s comment was unexpected as he discussed the current state of the UFC and his views on the champions. He believes that they needed to take the belt back for the ‘normal’ people, insinuating that Du Plessis was not expected.

“We need to get the title back for the normal people, man. This gay [du Plessis] who have the belt. Not normal. First time I’ve ever seen/heard like African gay,” said Chimaev.

It’s important to note that this isn’t Chimaev’s first involvement in a heated situation. He has made headlines before for his brash personality and intense rivalry with other fighters. However, this recent comment crosses a line that many believe shouldn’t be crossed.

Chimaev’s remark raises many questions about how fighters should behave themselves outside the Octagon. The UFC definitely will not meddle in this affair, but Du Plessis certainly did have his say in these comments.

Dricus Du Plessis Responds To Khamzat Chimaev’s Homophobic Comments

‘Borz’ recently made headlines for his homophobic remarks about UFC champ Du Plessis. This shook the MMA world, and they waited for a response from anybody and everybody. And that is where Du Plessis himself chimed in.

In a display of surprising restraint, Du Plessis chose not to engage directly with Chimaev’s derogatory remarks. Instead, he took a more measured approach. The middleweight champion took a jab at Chimaev’s recurring withdrawals from fights.

“You just focus on trying to make it to a fight, any fight.” wrote Du Plessis.

Chimaev had recently withdrawn from his fight against Robert Whittaker. This was not the first time. He has pulled out of several more fights in his UFC career, including one against Leon Edwards. Du Plessis’ comment highlighted this fact, and he made sure ‘Borz’ knew that he was playing with fire.
