‘Mayweather Loves Mexico’: Floyd Mayweather with a Message for His Mexican Fans
Boxing’s very own technical maestro, Floyd Mayweather (50-0, 27KOs), recently landed in Mexico for his rematch against John Gotti III (2-0, 1 KO). As fans wait to witness the duo settle their differences after the catastrophic end of their former fight, Mayweather came forward with a message for his fans in Mexico.
Talking to reporters, he mentioned that he was glad to have the opportunity to showcase his talent in the capital of Mexico. Moreover, he added that he was happy to see the unbelievable boxing pedigree in the country. “Truly, truly unbelievable. Just like I said before, the boxing pedigree. So many legends from Mexico. There have been so many fighters from Mexico throughout my career that I truly truly loved,” he said. Mayweather also mentioned that he has been in awe of the Mariachi bands and the culture of Mexico.
“I’m just so glad that I’ve been able to come here. It has always been one of my ultimate goals to come here, train, work out with the Mexican fighters. They work so extremely hard. Their will to win is the same as my will to win. They’re willing to die and leave it all in the ring. So hopefully, for the whole country of Mexico, we’re going to put on a show,” he said. “Mayweather loves Mexico. Show up Saturday.”

“It’s A Sensation”
While Gotti is undoubtedly looking forward to testing his mettle (once again) against Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya still regrets fighting the crown prince of boxing. Talking ahead of the Gotti III vs. Mayweather showdown, De La Hoya revealed that their fight still remains a bitter pill to swallow.
“When you are a fighter inside the ring, and you hear the final bell rings, you know it in your heart, in your gut, and physically if you won or you lost. You just feel it, it’s a sensation,” De La Hoya told Shannon Sharpe while recalling his loss to Mayweather.
“I fought against the best Floyd Mayweather, in his prime, you know, undefeated. So I was pretty proud of what I accomplished that night.”
