Who Has Belal Muhammad Lost To?
Belal Muhammad
It’s been over five years since the combat sports world last saw Belal Muhammad lose a bout in the octagon. With 23 wins and a 10-win streak, the 36-year-old American seems unbeatable in the welterweight division. He will next face Leon Edwards at the UFC 304 with hopes of continuing his winning streak.
The last time when Muhammad lost a bout was back on January 19, 2019. In the UFC Fight Night: Cejudo vs. Dillashaw fight card, he faced Geoff Neal and lost by unanimous decision. But that doesn’t mean he has lost only one fight in his UFC career.
A Look at Belal Muhammad’s Previous UFC Losses
Having fought 27 times in the UFC octagon, the 36-year-old has won 23 bouts, lost three, and had one fight with a No Contest result. After making his UFC debut in 2012, Muhammad went on a nine-win streak until July 7, 2016.
Fighting against Alan Jouban at the UFC Fight Night: dos Anjos vs. Alvarez, the 36-year-old tasted his first-ever defeat. He lost the bout in the third round via a unanimous decision. However, in just one month, he bounced back and defeated Augusto Montano at the UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Johnson via TKO.
However, Muhammad’s victory over Montano was short-lived. On November 12, 2016, he was up against Vicente Luque, also known by his moniker ‘The Silent Assassin’ at the UFC 205. The American lost his first and only bout via a KO. Nevertheless, he did get his revenge against Luque after around six years at the UFC on ESPN: Luque vs. Muhammad 2 on April 16, 2022.
After losing the match against Luque in 2016, Muhammad went on a four-win streak until a younger Geoff Neal put an end to it in 2019.
Interestingly, the No. 2 in the UFC welterweight rankings has been unbeaten for the longest time in his career. After a year-long break at UFC 304, he will return to the octagon, headlining the main event against Leon Edwards in Manchester. Will Belal Muhammad win his 11th consecutive fight? That will be answered on July 27, 2024.
