Bradley Cooper has recalled how Jay-Z was watching Judge Judy during his “crazy” meeting with Beyoncé for A Star is Born.

Jay-Z Likes Judge Judy

Bradley Cooper acted and directed in the hit 2018 film A Star is Born with Lady Gaga in the leading actress role.

Lady Gaga had her acting breakthrough with the film. She got an Oscar nomination for the role and even won an Academy Award for her song Shallow in the movie.

However, before the role went to Lady Gaga, Bradley had considered stars like Adele and Beyoncé Knowles for the part in A Star is Born.

During an interview with the SAG-AFTRA Foundation this week, Bradley — who is dating Gigi Hadid — revealed the “crazy” meeting he had at Beyoncé’s house to try to pitch the singer a movie role.

Bradley revealed how nervous he was about the meeting with Beyoncé and the fact that her husband Jay-Z was watching a very trashy daytime television show: Judge Judy.

“I went to Beyoncé’s house, and Jay-Z was watching Judge Judy, I still remember. I’m not kidding,’ Bradley shared in the interview.

Bradley said his nerves with Beyoncé caused him to develop a cough during the meeting: “I was freaking [out]. I remember I had this weird cough when I was pitching it to her.”

Bradley described Beyoncé and Jay-Z as “incredible.” They continued discussions on A Star is Born for a year but it eventually fell through with Beyoncé.

Bradley says he then tried to get Adele for the role but she simply texted him saying she was “busy.”

In the end, he heard Lady Gaga singing at a cancer benefit and instantly knew the singer was the actress for the role in A Star is Born.

Bradley said of Lady Gaga’s singing: “It just blew the doors off of the whole place, and it was in that moment where it was like, ‘That’s it. What was I even thinking?’ And then I asked to meet her.”
