WNBA star rookie Caitlin Clark gets heat from Donald Trump supporters after she liked Taylor Swift’s post endorsing Kamala Harris.
WNBA star rookie Caitlin Clark liked Taylor Swift’s Kamala Harris endorsing post
WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark finally showed which side she was on in the upcoming Presidential elections. By liking Taylor Swift‘s post endorsement of current VP Kamala Harris, she has now come under the scanner of Donald Trump supporters. With some going to the extent of attacking the WNBA star rookie for her political choice.
This started after it came to the attention of her fans that she was also supporting Harris. Since then, a barrage of hate-laced messages have been thrown at her. Some are appalled by her decision as they felt she should not have entered the political space. On the other hand, most chastised her for not supporting their nominee, Donald Trump. With this, the 22-year-old enters another sphere in her short career where she has been caught in the center of another storm.
She joins her boyfriend Connor McCaffery in showing a common political thought process. McCaffery showed support for Harris during the Democratic National Convention. Back then it was still a mystery as to where her preferences lay. That suggested she would probably lean Democratic too. But now that she has made her choice public, fans did not hesitate to take their frustrations out.

The current WNBA assist leader may have just shown what she believes in. But fans seem to suggest that most of her fanbase from the Midwest region of America, is not in support of her choice. They talked about the WNBA and her losing a lot of fans due to this decision. Only time will tell if that claim becomes true.
Caitlin Clark does not officially endorse Kamala Harris
It was natural that reporters would ask her about this once it became apparently clear that she supported Taylor Swift‘s stance. When asked if she would officially endorse Kamala Harris, she said:
I have this amazing platform. So, I think the biggest thing would be encourage people to register to vote. That’s the biggest thing I can do with the platform that I have. That’s the same thing Taylor did. Continue to educate yourself with the candidates that we have and the policies they are supporting.
With this response, it is clear that she has not officially endorsed Harris. At least not in the same way Swift did. Instead, she chose to divert the topic to the conversation around voting.

It was a smart play by her as she implemented the simple rule her rival Angel Reese had followed. Reese abstained from talking about any candidate and instead focused on voting in general. The Chicago Sky rookie pleaded ignorance when talking about the candidates.
But for Caitlin Clark, that boat has sailed. Liking the endorsement post of her favorite musical artist means Donald Trump supporters and future Republican voters will always likely link her with Democrats. With the elections around the corner, conversations surrounding this might continue for some time.
