Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese was recently announced as a 2024 WNBA All-Star. Reese joins Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark as the only two rookies to make the 12-team lineup. WNBA legend Lisa Leslie shared high praise for Reese following the annocumemet, posting a reply to the news on X, mentioning the league will “regret” letting Reese slide in the draft.
“I’m so proud of you! Congratulations on your first All-Star! I told you! They will all regret passing on you,” Leslie said via X.
Reese is having a solid rookie season with the Sky, averaging 13.2 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. She’s the only rookie averaging a double-double while leading the league in rebounding.
The LSU product will now take her talents to Phoenix, Arizona for the 2024 WNBA All-Star game on June 20th.

I’m so proud of you! Congratulations on your first All-Star! I told you! They will all regret passing on you💐💐💐💐— Lisa Leslie (@LisaLeslie) July 3, 2024
Leslie has been vocal about the impact the 2024 rookie class has made on the WNBA. She sent the league a stern warning with her statement on the Sky grabbing a steal in the draft.
Reese has commented on her appreciation of Chicago taking her at No. 7 in the 2024 draft. The 6’4 forward believes she’s a perfect fit in the Windy City, and that’s clearly been proven with first-year head coach Teresa Weatherspoon.
Leslie’s comments on Reese truly show the community that’s been built in the WNBA. The league is growing each and every day, with millions of new viewers in the 2024 season, and the rookie class has made the pilot of major change for women’s basketball.
