He went on, ‘I mean how could you not?’ Katy responded, ‘I approve.’

The award comes as Perry prepares to release her upcoming seventh studio album 143. Her comeback single from the album, Woman’s World, flopped in the charts following its release over the summer.

Additionally, she was heavily criticized for collaborating on Woman’s World with Dr. Luke, the music producer accused of s3xual assault by Kesha in a lawsuit that was later dismissed. Dr. Luke has consistently denied the allegations.
