Team USA reclaimed the Olympic gold at the women’s gymnastics team final today at the Paris 2024 Games.
Gymnasts Simone Biles, Sunisa “Suni” Lee, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, and Hezly Rivera delivered a stunning victory, with a final score of 171.296, a total that placed them nearly six points ahead of silver-medalists Italy. Brazil took third place and the bronze.
With another gold medal under her belt, Biles now has five Olympic gold medals and eight Olympic medals overall, making her the most decorated American gymnast in the history of the Games

The victory also marks a triumphant return for Biles, who withdrew mid-competition from the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, due to a mental block. At the time, Team USA took home the silver medal, placing behind Russia, which won gold.

Biles closed out the final with a dazzling floor routine that evoked a standing ovation from the arena, for which she scored 14.666 points. Her performance followed impressive routines by Lee and Chiles, who scored 13.533 and 13.966, respectively.
On the beam, Lee led her team with a score of 14.600, while Biles earned 14.366 and Chiles 12.733. They continued their winning streak on the vault, with each teammate scoring above 14.

The women’s gymnastics gold win comes a day after Team USA’s men’s gymnastics team scored its first Olympic medals in 16 years. Brody Malone, Frederick Richard, Asher Hong, Paul Juda, and Stephen Nedoroscik secured the bronze in a team event on Monday.
