Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has recently detailed his strategy for facing Tyson Fury if they were to meet in their prime years.

At 57 years old, Tyson is preparing for a comeback bout against Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul later this year in November. Despite his age, Tyson remains confident in his boxing prowess and often discusses how he would fare against contemporary heavyweights.

Tyson Fury, standing at an imposing 6 feet 9 inches, is widely considered one of the best heavyweights of this era, with his lone defeat coming at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk. Reflecting on a potential bout with Fury in their primes, Tyson emphasized the importance of aggression, head movement, and elusiveness against a larger opponent like Fury.

“In a fight against someone like Tyson Fury, who is so big, you have to be aggressive, move your head, and avoid standing still because that makes you an easy target,” Tyson explained in a 2020 interview with Ring Magazine. He stressed the need to attack, utilize angles, and stay within striking distance without allowing the bigger fighter to exploit his reach advantage.

Acknowledging the physical disparity—he himself standing at 5 feet 11 inches—Tyson acknowledged the challenge but maintained his belief in his fighting spirit and determination. “Many don’t grasp that size and technique aren’t the key elements in the ring; it’s the fighter’s morale that determines victory,” Tyson asserted. He highlighted his own confidence during his prime, considering himself invincible and unparalleled in combat.

While Fury holds a professional record of 34 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw, Tyson’s record stands at 50 wins, 6 losses, and 2 no-contests. Fury is set for a rematch against Usyk on December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, aiming to avenge his split decision defeat earlier.

Tyson, renowned for his formidable career and indomitable spirit, continues to captivate fans with his insights and reflections on the sport of boxing.
