How many medals does Simone Biles have?

Biles, widely considered the greatest gymnast of all time, now has eight Olympic medals, including five gold medals across her three Summer Games appearances and could still add even more.

She made her debut in Rio and won four gold medals, including team and individual all-around, and one bronze.

Biles returned for the Tokyo Olympics, where she won silver in the team competition and bronze on the balance beam. She was supposed to compete in even more finals in Tokyo, but had to withdraw because of a frightening phenomenon known as the “twisties.”

She could leave Paris with even more medals. The 27-year-old is scheduled to compete in four more events: the women’s all-around, vault, balance beam and floor exercise.

Simone Biles, of the United States, celebrates after performing on the uneven bars during the women’s artistic gymnastics team finals round.

If she gets first in two more events in Paris, she’ll land on the list of Americans with the most gold medals at the Summer Olympics.

Currently, Jenny Thompson – with eight gold medals – has the most of any American woman in the Summer Games – Biles would need three more to match that level.

The overall Olympic gymnastics record belongs to Larisa Latynina, who competed for the Soviet Union, and won 18 medals across her three appearances in the Olympics.
