Theo Von, the American stand-up comedian and host of the “This Past Weekend” podcast, recently welcomed YouTube star, boxer, and musician KSI to his show.
Theo is known for his humorous style in the podcast, and he took the opportunity to critique Jake Paul’s boxing career, questioning Paul’s opponents. Let’s check out what Theo said about Paul’s fights.
Theo Von Criticizes Jake Paul’s Boxing Record for Facing Older Opponents
Jake Paul and KSI are major figures in the crossover boxing scene. While Paul has concentrated on professional boxing, KSI is actively involved with Misfits Boxing, a leading crossover boxing promotion.
On the podcast, KSI mentioned that Jake Paul views himself as a major player in defeating so-called legends. Theo Von, however, took a jab at Paul, labeling him as the “slayer of senior citizens.”
Von’s sarcasm was aimed at Paul, who, at 27, is trying to build his boxing record by facing older opponents. Jake Paul, for instance, defeated the nearly 40-year-old Ben Askren by technical knockout in the first round and later won a split decision against 42-year-old Tyron Woodley.
The most controversial fight of the year, against the legendary Mike Tyson, was postponed because Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up on a plane.
Paul was set to face Mike Tyson was controversial due to the significant age difference—Paul is 27, and Tyson is 58.
Many questioned the fairness of the fight, and it was ultimately canceled. Instead, Paul will face former UFC fighter and Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship “King of Violence,” Mike Perry.
Despite facing criticism for taking on older opponents, Paul continues to work on building his professional boxing record.
