Sean Strickland Finally Apologizes To Valentina Shevchenko After Making Derogatory Comments About Women’s MMA
Valentina Shevchenko and Sean Strickland
Known for his controversial remarks, Sean Strickland recently found himself in hot water. He had made some less-than-flattering comments about women’s MMA, particularly targeting Paige VanZant. Now, he has made headlines once again. But this time, it’s for an unexpected reason: an apology.
Valentina Shevchenko, the women’s flyweight champ, wasn’t about to let Strickland’s words slide. The ‘Bullet’ had fired back, calling him out for his immature behavior. Here is where things get interesting. Strickland, usually unapologetic, did something surprising. He actually said sorry.
“Oh yes he did apologise. He said that when he is not training, he starts losing his mind. As he wrote he gets possessed by demons. So he apologized in a very polite manner. Said that he had a training session sparred for 10 rounds which set his mind right,” said Shevchecko via Ushatayka.
Shevchenko also talked about the alleged shooting competition between her and Sean Strickland. She revealed that it hadn’t come to fruition yet as she was nursing a hand injury after the second Alexa Grasso fight. Maybe now she will be willing to lock horns with ‘Tarzan’ at the shooting range.
Sean Strickland’s history of controversial statements is longer than a heavyweight’s reach. This could be a one-off moment of clarity. Still, it’s refreshing to see even the most combative fighters can bury the hatchet.
Sean Strickland Goes Off On Women’s MMA And Pinpoints UFC 297 Co-Main Event
The UFC’s resident loose cannon struck again. This time, he took aim at women’s MMA, and his words left a mark. Known for his unfiltered opinions, his outburst came during the UFC 297 media day. The middleweight champ didn’t mince words when asked about sharing the card with female fighters.
Strickland was gearing up to defend his title against Dricus Du Plessis. Meanwhile, Raquel Pennington and Mayra Bueno Silva were set to battle it out in the co-main event. Fans would think Strickland might show some solidarity with his fellow fighters. But nope, that’s not his style.
“I don’t give a f***. Let’s be honest…WNBA vs NBA, who watches what and who makes more money? There is a vast difference between men and women. Even take this weak, Canadian sitting next to you [pointing at a male journalist], he could probably beat up Raquel Pennington,” said Strickland.
Sean Strickland claimed that if women’s MMA separated from men’s, nobody would watch it. His antics, while controversial, do get people talking. In a sport where attention equals money, maybe that’s his endgame.
