Chappell Roan is grateful to have Sabrina Carpenter’s support.
In a new Rolling Stone cover story interview, the “Red Wine Supernova” musician — who’s been open about facing “predatory behavior” from some fans — revealed she’s found support in many fellow musicians since her rise to fame, including Carpenter.
“We’re both going through something so f—ing hard,” Roan, 26, told the outlet. “[Carpenter] just feels like everything is flying, and she’s just barely hanging on.”

“It was just good to know someone else feels that way,” added the “Good Luck, Babe!” performer.
Since releasing her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, in September 2023, Roan has experienced a whirlwind catapult to success — which got even more intense this summer with her opening slot for Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts World Tour and viral music festival performances.
Last month, the “Hot to Go!” artist spoke out on social media, asking fans to respect her boundaries regarding “nonconsensual physical and social interactions.”

“I just need to lay it out and remind you, women don’t owe you s—,” said Roan on TikTok. “I chose this career path because I love music and art and honoring my inner child, I do not accept harassment of any kind because I chose this path, nor do I deserve it.”
Many artists who’ve experienced similarly quick career breakthroughs have since offered support and advice to Roan, including Charli xcx, Billie Eilish, Katy Perry, Lorde, the members of MUNA, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Lucy Dacus, Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Hayley Williams, whom she told Rolling Stone “is the strongest bitch ever.”
Mitski, who’s also notably set boundaries with fans in physical settings, sent Roan an email about the subject. “I just wanted to humbly welcome you to the s—tiest exclusive club in the world, the club where strangers think you belong to them and they find and harass your family members,” she wrote, per Rolling Stone.

Far less men in the music industry have offered a helping hand to Roan. “Not a lot of boys have been like, ‘Let me know if you ever want to talk about it,'” she said, naming Orville Peck, Troye Sivan, Noah Kahan and Elton John as some of the only ones. “It’s been sick to have artists that I’ve looked up to for many years, sometimes my whole life, reach out.”
John, 77, told the outlet he feels “very protective” of Roan. “She is kind, innocent, and wonderful. She is not ‘Chappell Roan’ offstage — a bit like me,” he said. “She is one of those people who I felt like I have known for a long time.”
