Lisa Kudrow is clarifying Jennifer Aniston‘s recent comments.
The 60-year-old addressed her former costar’s sentiments that she ‘hated’ the way a live audience would laugh during jokes while filming Friends.
‘No, that’s not exactly – no, no,’ Lisa told Entertainment Tonight. ‘It irritated me if they would laugh for too long.’
The Comeback star explained to the outlet: ‘God bless them. They were so excited to be there that sometimes the laughter would just be longer than if they would have laughed at anything else.’
Lisa added, ‘I was like, “All right, well, take it easy. It’s not that funny. And there’s more to say!”‘
Last month, Jennifer sat down with Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Brunson during a conversation for Variety’s Actors on Actors and reminisced on the sitcom.
‘Lisa Kudrow, by the way, hated when the audience laughed…’ the 55-year-old claimed.
‘She’d be like, “I’m not done! It’s not that funny!”‘
Jennifer also became emotional while reflecting on spending Friends’ premiere day with the late Matthew Perry – ahead of the show’s 30th anniversary.
‘It’s so strange to even think that it’s 30 years old,’ the Murder Mystery actress reflected.
‘Because I remember the day that it was going to premiere on television, on NBC, Matthew Perry and I were having lunch somewhere, and we knew Lisa was getting her hair colored.
‘So we ran into the hair salon, and I snuck up – she was in the sink – and I took the nozzle from the guy that was supposed to be doing it and just started washing her hair. It definitely flew out of control, and that was unfortunate.’
The iconic series aired for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004, with Jennifer noting, ‘The excitement we had, it feels like yesterday.’
She also confessed that not having social media made the cast – which also included David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox and Matt LeBlanc – closer.
‘It was in the ’90s and 2000s, and we had a luxury of there not being social media or the internet, so we were so isolated and protected,’ Jennifer told Quinta.
‘You weren’t faced with what people are commenting and ripping you apart or whatever. It was a dreamy time.
‘It was really nostalgic,’ the Picture Perfect star commented. ‘It was really an innocent time, where we could roam about the world a lot easier. Even thought it became a big thing, we were able to be together and support. But again, there weren’t phones. It’s not like hundreds of screens telling you what it is.’
Meanwhile, September 22 will mark 30 years since the show premiered, just one month shy of the year anniversary of Matthew’s death.
The report also stated that Matthew drowned in ‘the heated end of his pool’ but that it was a secondary factor in his death.
Two weeks after the Numb star died, Lisa reflected on the start of Friends in a touching Instagram tribute.
‘Shot the pilot, Friends Like Us, got picked up then immediately, we were at the NBC Upfronts,’ she wrote. ‘Then… You suggested we play poker AND made it so much fun while we initially bonded. Thank you for that.’
Lisa continued, ‘Thank you for making me laugh so hard at something you said, that my muscles ached, and tears poured down my face EVERY DAY. Thank you for your open heart in a six way relationship that required compromise. And a lot of “talking.”‘
Two weeks after Matthew Perry died in October, the comedian paid tribute to her longtime pal: ‘Shot the pilot, Friends Like Us, got picked up then immediately, we were at the NBC Upfronts. Then… You suggested we play poker AND made it so much fun while we initially bonded. Thank you for that’
The Emmy winner touched on her costar’s addiction struggles, adding, ‘Thank you for showing up at work when you weren’t well and then, being completely brilliant. Thank you for the best 10 years a person gets to have. Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for all I learned about GRACE and LOVE through knowing you. Thank you for the time I got to have with you, Matthew.’
At the time of Matthew’s passing, the Los Angeles Police Department started an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his overdose.
And just last month, a law enforcement insider shared that the investigation is ‘nearing its conclusion’ and police believe ‘multiple people’ should be charged.
The source added that the U.S. Attorney’s Office will make the official decision on whether or not to press charges.
However, the U.S. Attorney’s Office has since responded ‘no comment.’
