Kevin Sullivan, a legendary wrestler, died at the age of 74.

He had an accident in May that left him with a serious injury from which he never fully recovered.

WWE confirmed The Taskmaster’s death early Thursday morning, which led to many people paying tribute to the former World Championship Wrestling star.

A GoFundMe was set up for the wrestler last month after his daughter Nicole said that he had a “devastating accident” in May while he was in Florida signing autographs.

Nicole wrote on the fundraiser page, “He had emergency surgery that saved his leg and life, but serious problems followed, including sepsis and encephalitis.”

“This unplanned disaster has put a huge financial strain on Kevin’s family, as he has been in and out of consciousness in the ICU, away from home.”

“Despite these problems, Kevin has been incredibly strong. He’s still fighting to get his freedom months later.

Although the fundraiser is no longer working, it raised more than $54,000 for the family’s medical bills.

While releasing their statement, WWE called Kevin a “unique and influential figure in sports-entertainment history.”

TRIBUTES COME IN

Celebrities and fans of wrestling are both paying tribute to Sullivan on social media.

“Kevin Sullivan had one of the most unique minds in the history of our industry, pushing creative boundaries and developing some of the most intriguing characters to step into the ring,” X wrote to Triple H.

His love for what we do never wavered. Feeling sad for his family, friends, and fans.

“I’m very sorry to hear about Kevin Sullivan’s death. Brian, may you rest in peace. You were a great friend and athlete and will always be remembered!” How did Ric Flair say?

Wrestling legend Mark Henry wrote on Facebook, “Prayers for the family! Best wishes!”

Nicole posted an update to the GoFundMe on July 15 saying that Sullivan was “regaining a lot of physical strength.”

“He does physical and occupational therapy daily, with the goal and ultimate hope that he regains his independence.”

Sullivan’s death was announced the day before Flair talked about him in a positive way on X.

“Kevin Sullivan Has Been One Of My Closest Friends In The Business,” said Flair.

And it’s not just wrestling knowledge that’s unmatched. He has one of the smartest minds in our company’s history.

The WCW beat WWE for a year and a half, and Kevin fought famous people like Hall, Nash, The NWO, Eric Bischoff, Ric Flair, The Nature Boy, and Hulk Hogan!

“Keep your strength up Kevin!” We require you!”

Although the wrestler had a career that lasted more than 60 years, he was best known for being a WCW promoter.

Jerry Sullivan’s wife Linda and four children will miss him.

Although his family hasn’t said anything yet, it’s still not clear what caused his death.
