Many fans believe Caitlin Clark should have been included on the team due to her early achievements and success as a WNBA rookie.
Team USA’s starting guards are a combined 2-12 from the field in the Olympics and are yet to make a 3-point attempt, scoring just four points between the two. That shows Clark would have carved out an impactful role with Team USA, being one of the top offensive guards in the WNBA.
Fans of Japan supported Caitlin Clark during their matchup versus Team USA, boasting a sign that read, “You need Caitlin Clark to beat us”.

Caitlin Clark looking to lead Indiana Fever to playoff berth in her rookie year
Through all of the noise of Team USA and the Olympics, there still lies a critical goal for Clark and the Indiana Fever. The team holds the seventh position with a little over a week until regular-season play resumes on Aug. 15.
The Fever are 11-15 with 14 games left and looking to cling to their playoff spot in Clark’s rookie season. The rookie sensation has been on a historic pace, setting numerous records, including the WNBA single-game assist record with 19 assists versus the Dallas Wings on July 17.
Through 26 games, Clark has averaged 17.1 points, 8.2 assists and 5.8 rebounds, separating herself from rival Angel Reese in the WNBA Rookie of Year race with a strong finish going into All-Star break.
Leading the Fever to a playoff berth in her rookie season would be a huge feat for Clark. Expect her high level of play to continue in the second half of the season to help the Fever to the playoffs.
