‘I got too much energy’: Fever’s Erica Wheeler gets drug tested for third time in 2024 … No more dancing and acting on the bench cause … | HO

The Indiana Fever are one of the hottest teams in the WNBA right now and they look to be just getting started. The Fever secured a fifth straight victory on Wednesday, and this time it was against the LA Sparks.

The young squad handled their business by getting excellent contributions from everyone on the roster, including veteran Erica Wheeler, who then received another drug test.

During the game, Wheeler was the energy provider coming off the bench as well as cheering from the sidelines. She was the kind of veteran presence that every young team needs in their development. However, the Fever veteran believed that her energy might have been too much in the eyes of the league.

She shared her comments on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Just great, another drug test! Getting drug tested for the third time this year is insane and I am sure it’s not the last. Apple juice coming right up. No more dancing and acting on the bench because apparently I got too much energy at 33 years old.”

Erica Wheeler logged nine minutes in the game and contributed four points with one rebound. In her post, she also included a picture of her dancing from the bench and a video of her putting on the moves in the middle of the huddle.

The veteran guard thinks that might not be the last time she gets called upon for a drug test as the team still has a few more games to go this season.

Fever guard Erica Wheeler has strong praise for rookie sensation Caitlin Clark

Since her first WNBA game, Caitlin Clark has faced defensive coverages that are not commonly executed against rookies. Due to her tough shotmaking ability and precision passing, Clark has proven herself to be a magician with the basketball.

It was observed by her teammate Erica Wheeler, who has already played 10 seasons in the league and seen her fair share of defensive sets. With what she has seen from opposing defenses matching up to the rookie guard, she argued that how the opponents cover her varies differently from what Clark faces, as per SBNation’s Noa Dalzell.

“Nobody plays me how they play her,” Wheeler said. “It’s a unique situation because literally they trap her at halfcourt. I’ve never had that.”

It’s one thing to go through growing pains as a rookie but to garner a strong impression on the competition’s scouting reports is a whole different position to be in. However, Caitlin Clark has managed to be ahead of schedule and adjust accordingly to how games play out in the professional league.

Her transformation has been so impressive that the Indiana Fever have secured a spot in the WNBA playoffs.
