Dana White Announces Conor McGregor’s UFC Comeback In Major Update
Dana White and Conor McGregor
Conor McGregor’s return to the UFC has been a hot topic for fight fans. The Irish superstar hasn’t stepped into the octagon since his brutal leg injury in 2021. But now, fans have got some juicy news straight from the big boss himself.
Dana White has finally spilled the beans on McGregor’s comeback. In a recent interview with NY Post Sports, he dropped a bombshell. The news is not what McGregor fans might be hoping for as they will be waiting a bit longer for ‘The Notorious’ return.
“I was the one this year saying I don’t think he’s going to fight this year. With all the talk and everything else. Even with the fight being set up and the press conference. Conor McGregor will fight next year, early 2025. As far as the hunger, he’s a very wealthy guy, we’ll find out when he comes back,” said White.
But why the long wait? White hinted at a few factors at play. For starters, there’s the small matter of McGregor being loaded. When you’re swimming in cash, the hunger to get punched in the face might not be as strong.
But Dana White assured that Conor McGregor still has that fire in his belly. He’s just taking his sweet time stoking those flames. And with him on the card, 2025 seems a promising start for the UFC.
Conor McGregor Still Eyeing December Fight
Since his leg-shattering bout with Dustin Poirier in 2021, fans have been on a rollercoaster ride of McGregor’s comeback rumors and setbacks. Now, it seems the Irish brawler is still holding out hope for a December showdown.
Conor McGregor recently chatted with the press, giving fans a peek into his recovery and plans. A broken pinky toe had forced him to withdraw from his much-anticipated June match against Michael Chandler. But he is positive to fight by the year’s end.
He is making progress and is back to running and boxing. He’s even eyeing UFC 310 on December 7th as his potential comeback stage. Of course, there’s always a twist in the McGregor tale. While he’s chomping at the bit to return, UFC boss Dana White has been singing a different tune. White initially claimed McGregor wouldn’t fight this year. But never underestimate the power of a determined Irishman!
