Jon Jones Urges Dana White To Remove His Only MMA Loss After Latest Rule Change
Jon Jones
If anyone is starting out watching UFC and wants to see why this sport is called one of the most brutal, just watch any of Jon Jones’ fights. Throughout his career, he hasn’t tasted defeat at an opponent’s hands. His only loss was against Matt Hamill in 2009, which was via disqualification for using a 12-6 move. Now that the rule has changed, the UFC champ has asked boss Dana White to change his record and revoke the only loss, making him an undefeated fighter.
The ABC’s decision to lift the ban on the 12-6 elbow strike has reignited debate. On Instagram, Jon Jones calls for his record to be updated, as this move, which caused his only loss, will be legal in November. At the time, the strike was illegal, leading to his disqualification. Since then, Jones and Dana White have advocated for the loss to be removed, aiming to restore Bones’ undefeated status.
Now that the decision change has brought a ray of hope, Jones has demanded Dana White address the issue. He wrote in the caption, “Undefeated then, undefeated now. @Danawhite, we gotta get that loss out of the history books.”
Is It Too Late to Reverse Jon Jones’ Defeat?
Jones’ only loss happened back in 2009 against Matt Hamill. According to Ariel Helwani, Jones can only have his loss changed to a no-contest, not a victory. In his recent X post, he also indicated that it might be too late to alter the result. Helwani wrote,
If the result swings in Jon Jones’ favor, his fans would be more than happy and could claim him as an officially undefeated fighter. While the rules have been changed, ‘Bones ‘is already urging the reverse of the decision. Will it ever happen? Well, let’s leave that to Dana White!
