Netflix’s The Witcher series has received a major update regarding its future following the exit of Henry Cavill.

With The Witcher Season 4 currently in the works, Netflix has just announced that the show will be returning for a fifth and final season.

The official announcement came from Netflix’s official X account for The Witcher on Thursday.

They confirmed that Season 4 has officially started production, showing footage of the cast members during a table read.

The post also made it clear that Season 5 is already in the plans and will serve as the grand finale to this epic series.

“It’s official, The Witcher season 4 is in production. But that’s not all, we’re already planning season 5, which will be the final season and bring this epic show to a fitting conclusion. See you on The Continent.”

Netflix announced in early April that Sharlto Copley, James Purefoy, and Danny Woodburn will be joining the cast for the upcoming season.

Sharlto will portray the infamous bounty hunter Leo Bonhart, while James takes on the role of Emhyr’s court advisor and esteemed spy, Skellen.

Danny will bring to life the beloved character Zoltan from the books and games.

Joining the ensemble are Liam Hemsworth, set to play the lead character Geralt in season four, succeeding Henry Cavill, and Anya Chalotra, who reprises her role as the witch Yennefer.

Freya Allan returns as Cirilla, and Joey Batey reprises his role as Jaskier.

Notably, Hollywood star Laurence Fishburne joins the cast as Regis, a sophisticated Barber-surgeon introduced in Sapkowski’s novel Baptism of Fire, who embarks on a journey with Geralt.

The official description for The Witcher season 4 reads, “After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other.”

“If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again.”

The Witcher Season 4 is expected to debut on Netflix sometime in 2025.
