Nikki Kidman has dropped out of the Venice Film Festival after learning that her mother, Janelle Ann, has died at the age of 84.
The famous actress, who won the Best Actress award for her role in Babygirl, attended the famous festival.
Halina Reijin, the director of Babygirl, accepted Nicole’s award and told the crowd why the 57-year-old star of The Perfect Couple left so quickly.
“I arrived in Venice today and shortly thereafter I learned that my beautiful and brave mother Janelle had died,” Halina read from Nicole’s statement.
The people gasped when they heard the bad news.
After reading what Nicole had said about her mother’s death, she said, “I’m shocked and I need to go see my family. But this award is for her.”
It was she who shaped me, guided me and made me.
“I am beyond grateful to be able to say her name to all of you through Halina.”
“The collision between life and art is heartbreaking and my heart is broken,” she said.
And to end her speech, Halina said: “We love you, Nicole.”
Nicole’s rep told People, “The family is heartbroken and asking for privacy at this time.”
“A STRANGE CRUSH”
Nicole’s fans flooded X with condolences for the Big Little Lies star.

A fifth person said, “Losing your mother is very hard; it shakes you to the bottom.”
Nicole said nice things about her mother in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2020.
At the time, the Eyes Wide Shut star said, “She’s given me the drive to achieve my goals because I’ve always wanted to please her.”
“It’s true that she made her own way and wanted her daughters to have the same opportunity.”
“Mom didn’t necessarily get the career she wanted, but she was determined that her daughters would have equal opportunities.”
“That rescued me.” “And he gave me my life, along with my dad,” he said.
