Nicki Minaj Says She Would Record with Taylor Swift ‘in a Heartbeat’: ‘Queen Taylor Deserves!’
Minaj made the comments in a social media conversation with her fans about the success of new album ‘Pink Friday 2’
Taylor Swift is being celebrated by Nicki Minaj.
On Wednesday, the “Super Freaky Girl” performer honored the success of Swift, 34, after she was named Spotify’s top-streamed artist of 2023.
“The SAG[ITTARIUS] QUEEN TAYLOR DESERVES!!!! PERIOD!!!!!” Minaj, 41, wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), about Swift’s record of 26.1 billion global streams since Jan. 1. The multiple-Grammy winner is also on target to earn more than $100 million in Spotify royalties this year, TH confirmed in early December.
“She takes months & years off then comes back with great music & fans who’ll never leave her!!!! The END!!!!!!!” added Minaj.
When asked by a fan is she’d “ever collab with Taylor Swift?” the rapper said she would walk into the recording studio “In a heartbeat.”
“We broke the record in vinyl sales for any female rap album in history,” added Minaj about the success of her new album Pink Friday 2, which recently debuted at the top of the Billboard 200.
“That means that retailers had no way of knowing that the vinyls would be in such high demand. Either way, now they do! That’s a marvelous thing!”
“Taylor & her fans have put in the work,” she added about the example set by Swift’s commercial success. “Now it’s our turn.”
“This is a CELEBRATION!!!!!” she continued. “I’m about to thank each & every artist on this album. But!!!!
“The point is that we have something to aspire to as we watch the SAG QUEEN Taylor & the swifties.”
Minaj’s comments come after she donated toys and $50,000 to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, which sends an array of festive gifts to children around the U.S.
“It was something that meant a lot to me,” Minaj, 41, told Andy Cohen during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live. She also presented a large pink check to the foundation, per a social media clip from the episode shared by fans.
“I would like to donate $50,000 to Toys for Tots because I love this organization. I love what it stands for. It means the world to me, and God bless all the children in the world,” she added.
In a separate festive moment, Swift’s romance with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce was celebrated in an NFL cartoon graphic Wednesday.
In July, Kelce said on an episode of his podcast, New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, that he’d hoped to give Swift his phone number (a Swiftie tour tradition) on a friendship bracelet after watching her perform at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, but didn’t get the chance.
“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs she sings,” he said on the episode earlier this year. “So I was a little butthurt that I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”
On Oct.22, Eagle-eyed fans noticed Swift made a personal nod to their romance by wearing a beaded bracelet bearing Kelce’s jersey number, 87 during the Chiefs home game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
