SNL stars react to TikToker saying no ‘hot woman’ has been cast on the show: ‘Grieving privately and uglily’
The video, which has been watched more than half a million times, prompted strong reactions — and some funny ones from Sarah Sherman and Chloe Troast.
Saturday Night Live cast members have responded to a recent viral TikTok post claiming the show has “never hired a hot woman.”
While the TikToker, who goes by the name Jahelis, clarified that they were “not saying that every single woman who has been a cast member on SNL is ugly,” the post prompted strong reactions across social media — and a couple of funny ones from its stars.
Current cast member Sarah Sherman, who joined the show in 2021, responded on X, saying, “Just found out I’m not hot. Please give me and my family space to grieve privately and uglily at this time.”
Meanwhile, new cast member Chloe Troast stitched in the TikToker’s video before singing Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful,” an ode to celebrating beauty in all shapes and forms.
In the original video, which has been viewed more than half a million times on TikTok, Jahelis elaborated, using Heidi Gardner as an example, saying the actress often plays “super-hot and super-dumb” characters, even though “she’s not that pretty” but “I guess, technically the most conventionally hot person — like, hot female — on this cast.”

The TikToker then pondered if the lack of “hot” women cast on the show has been intentional because “once we see women as super funny, we have a hard time seeing them as also both s*xy and attractive.”
The video inspired passionate responses, both in its comments section and in other users’ posts. One user called it “so random and mean,” while others listed off cast members who they think prove Jahelis wrong.
“Ego Nwodim is literally drop-dead gorgeous,” one commenter said. Others chimed in with comments like, “Julia Louis-Dreyfus is one of the hottest women of all time,” “Have you seen Chloe Fineman?” and “Kate McKinnon??!!! Melissa Villasenor?! Amy Poehler?!?? Kristen Wiig?!!! HelloOoOo.”

All the attention prompted Jahelis to post multiple response videos, including a lengthy one in which the TikToker reads an “official apology” they say they sent to Newsweek.
“I never expected that video to go viral,” Jahelis said, reading the statement. “Had I known, I would’ve maybe articulated myself a little bit better. I was expecting to have a dialogue with my community, who is used to my unfiltered opinions that rarely come from a place of malice.”
The TikToker continued, “In return for being brave enough to share a peek into what is the magical, colorful wonderland that I call my mind, I have received comments calling me ugly, fat, a trunk full of racially charged insults, etc… You know what they say: No good deed goes unpunished!”
While Jahelis called the video an “official apology,” the TikToker doesn’t actually think an apology is needed. “Unfortunately for everyone involved, bullying and racial insults have not swayed me, and instead I would love to double down,” Jahelis said. “In conclusion, I would like to apologize to no one and will go on living in a world where apparently Tina Fey looks like Megan Fox.”
